ANGLICAN STUDY & RESEARCH CENTER
The Anglican study and research Center (ASRC) of the church of the province of Myanmar (CPM) is committed to promoting Anglican studies of the CPM. The ASRC welcomes all students, friends, well-wishers, ministers and partners interested in the studies related to the CPM.
Background & Rationale
In spite of the long history of the presence and witness of the Anglican Church in Myanmar, there is a need of systematic articulation of what Myanmar Anglicanism is. This is especially true n terms of Myanmar Church’s position in responding to the current emerging issues of the other Provinces throughout the Anglican communion. Moreover, the silence and certain distance of Myanmar Christian Churches and theological institutions from its socio-political contexts, indicate that there is a need to contextualize the Christian Gospel into Myanmar context for the betterment of both Myanmar Christians and fellow citizens of Myanmar.
For faithful witness and mutual enlightenment, it is imperative that the Myanmar Anglican Church reconsider, rediscover, systematize and articulate the identity of Myanmar Anglicanism. In order to fulfill this call, ASRC has been serving and equipping the saints of CPM.
Goal & Objectives
The center’s primary goal and purpose is to study the history mission witness, and presence of the Anglican church in Myanmar to articulate Myanmar Anglicanism. It, moreover, envisions providing various opportunities for scholars, theologians, and Anglican seminarians to engage themselves in the following areas of study and research.
